HISTORY OF ARCHAEOLOGY The History of Archaeology details what the major archaeological finds tell us about the great civilizations of the past, opening a window onto the lives of our ancestors.Each of the nine chapters looks at a key era -- such as the Bronze Age -- or a key location -- such as Egypt -- and gives the story of what archaeology has been able to reveal to us on these topics. There are also feature spreads on key discoveries -- for example, the Temple Mounds of the Mississippi, and the palace of Knossos on Crete.
