BEAUTIFUL FERNCLIFFBeautiful Ferncliff is a celebration of that magnificent tranquil oasis in the middle of Springfield, Ohio Ferncliff Cemetery & Arboretum.
It is the story of how in a midsized Midwestern town such a remarkable example of nineteenth-century landscape architecture came into being. Paul Schanher and Anne Benston explore the story of Ferncliff s emergence during America s rural cemetery movement, as well of the stories of the people who rest there.
From the nationally prominent to the quiet contributors to their community, Beautiful Ferncliff is the story of their lives and legacy. Lavishly illustrated, the book captures the abundance of nature s beauty at Ferncliff and the ethereal funerary art, architecture, and intriguing cemetery symbolism that make it one of the most fascinating destinations in the city.
