THE SHOW Henry Manzanita is a bitter, unapproachable man whose careless decisions pit his sons against one another. Ted continues the family tradition of operating movie theaters, while Sonny is often in trouble with the law. When Ted moves to Los Angeles to operate several theaters, Sonny is incarcerated yet again, and this time the penalty is severe. Henry makes an especially divisive choice that drives the enraged Sonny to declare a vendetta against his brother, and "reach through the bars" to get to Ted and his family. They seek refuge in a quiet coastal town where Ted buys a small movie theater that he can upgrade, but Sonny's relentless threats pursue them, and continue until the day he finally arrives in town.
